NDT Technology
Composite Inspection Ltd provides special interest in the following inspection technologies. We find that these different techniques provide us with comprehensive toolkit of overlapping inspection capabilities

Laser Shearography
Laser Shearography is a mature inspection technology which provides a unique assessment of the strength of the material being inspected. It is a non-contact, so therefore very sensitive. The principle sensitivity is out-of-plane which matches the weakest vector of a laminar built composite. We work in conjunction with Dantec Dynamics GmbH, Ulm, Germany, to provide the optimum cost effective inspection solutions in both equipment and inspection requirements

Ultrasonics
We offer the standard method of NDT for Composites, ranging for low frequency penetrating capabilities for Plastics and Composites to high frequencies used for metallic structures, using a range of compressive and shear probes with state of the art digital and analogue Ultrasonic Flaw Detectors.
We have a newly installed flat bed water jet through transmission rig capable of scanning 2.5 by 3 meter components

Mechanical Impedance Analysis (MIA)
Mechanical Impedance testing is a mature method of determining disbonds in a wide range of composite materials. We use the Stavely Bondmaster and the MIA 2500 for composite inspections, especially sandwich constructions.

Thermography
Examination of composite structures is a proven method of detection of disbonds and delaminations by monitoring the transfer of thermal energy in the infra red spectrum

Eddy Current
Eddy Current inspection is a rapid method of determining surface and near surface cracks in metallic materials.  The advantage is that costly strip and degreasing to carry out inspection by dye and mag particle is alleviated.
Surface Crack Detection . Due to the extremely small size of the probes they are able to detect areas of poor accessibility with both shielded and unshielded probes ranging from
n
100 Hz to 2 Mhz probes for  Ferrous to Aluminium aerospace and marine alloys
n
6 Mhz probes for Titanium
Subsurface Crack Detection.   By using lower frequencies on non-ferrous metals, Eddy Currents can be used to detect subsurface corrosion and crack defects on Aluminium, Steel and Titanium.
Composite Inspection Ltd has a wide range of probes used in conjunction with the renown Hocking Locator UHB instrument.

Penetrant Flaw Detection( PFD)
To provide basic surface cracking detection on metallic materials, we provide a highly portable colour contrast dye penetrant system.

Magnetic Flaw Detection (MPI)
Mobile, magnetic flow hand yolk and contrast black ink inspection capability for ferrous metal structure to find surface cracking
